5 minutes with... Suzette Brissett

December 1, 2016

SUZETTE BRISSETT is a name you should be taking note of right now...

It's been a crazy few years for South London's homegrown choreographer, and she shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.

As a top choreographer and creative director within the music business, Suzette has collaborated with some of the industry's biggest players.

From causing a stir with Lily Allen (opening Miley Cyrus's US Bangerz tour) to hanging with Jay-Z and M.I.A, she has choreographed for the coolest kids on the planet, all the whilst helping develop box-fresh acts such as Little Nikki, Karen Harding and Neon Jungle.

Did I also mention she starred in BBC Three's South Side Story (sort of a streetwise Made In Chelsea, following entertainers from South London) as one of the UK's top choreographers? Oh yes, well that as well.

What gets me most about Suzette though (other than her hugeeeee personality) is her INSANELY COOL fashion. Think monochrome, cool hats, androgynous tailoring and urban flavour.

Don't believe me, check out her insta... @SUZETTEOFFICIAL

Personally, I love it when someone is creative both inside and out, whilst staying true to themselves. So on that note I'm about to pick her brains on everything from her fashion, inspirations and sizzling career...

HEYYYYY SUZETTE! Ok, so question one... What would you say has been your career highlight so far?

S: My highlight so far, oh wow for me there have been soo many so far. I think the one that stands out the most for me was Choreographing for M.I.A 'Bad girls' music Video and her performance on the Jay Z Hackney weekender set and seeing Beyonce in the crowd dancing my routine.

What are your favourite fashion brands?

S: I'm not a really picky person with brands or labels, I love wearing mens clothes that's about it. However as long as the clothes looks good, fits good then it's all good with me. I love fashion so what ever I wear I will always try and make it my own.

What is your go-to dance/choreography look?

S: My go to dance choreography look will change depends on the rehearsal vib. For anyone that knows me, I always wear a hat, so of course I will be wearing a hat in all my rehearsals.
If it's very full out, then for example it would be my skinny Adidas tracksuit bottoms or shorts. and a Long T shirt/ Hoodie ect
If it's very laid back, then it be skinny jeans lol.
Foot wear, I love dancing in Dr Martins, Timberlands or Jordans

What do you think makes a great audition outfit?

I think what makes a great audition outfit, is a dancer looking very fashionable. I should be able to finish my audition and still hit the red carpet afterwards. Lol

Who are your inspirations

S: My inspiration growing up wanting to be a dancer was artists such as Britney Spears, Missy Elliott, N'Sync, Usher and Aaliyah. Up to this day I still feel inspired by a lot of Other Artists, Dancers, Directors and Choreographers.

The best part of being behind the scenes I'm able to get time to spend quality time with other creatives that always helps to inspire me work.
